About this template

A starting point for any app that works with the user’s own data. Upload a CSV file, tell the app whether the first row holds column names and which separator it uses, and browse the result.

Until a file is uploaded the app shows R’s mtcars data, so there is always something on screen. The same reactive data feeds the value boxes, the table, the summary and the download.

What's inside

  • A fileInput() for CSV files, read with read.csv()
  • Options for header row and separator, with switch() to map choices to values
  • Value boxes with the number of rows and columns
  • An interactive DT table and a summary() in tabs
  • A download button that exports the data as CSV

How to run it

  1. In your browser: run it with shinylive. R runs on your computer with webR; the first start downloads R and the packages, which can take a minute.
  2. In R or RStudio: save the code as app.R, install the packages once with install.packages(c("shiny", "bslib", "DT")), then run shiny::runApp() in the folder with the file.
  3. In DropToApp: open the template in the editor to change the layout by drag and drop or edit the code, and export your own app.R.
